Originally published in 1933, this play was hailed in literary circles as a landmark in Egyptian drama. Based on the legend of the Seven Sleepers of Ephesus, it tells the story of three men and a dog, all of whom sleep for 300 years, in a cave, after fleeing religious persecution and seeking refuge there from a tyrant. They wake up and find themselves in a new world, but are people really that different?
