In early 1850, the steamer 'Clive', coming from Bombay, abandoned five chests of tea in the port of Basra, where Admiral Lancaster was serving his sentence of exile. The policy of promoting tea begins in parallel with a series of assassinations of Dutch coffee dealers, until tea became the number one drink in southern Iraq. This novel is woven with threads of truth and fiction. It is the first novel by the award-winning Iraqi storyteller and author.
