This lush adaptation for children tells the story of Hayy ibn Yaqzan, a little boy who is raised on a desert island by an antelope who feeds him with her milk. He grows up learning the languages of the animals and through his observation of the animals and the enviornment he gains great knowledge in natural science and philosophy. The original philosophical novel was written in the 12th century by Ibn Tufail, an Arab Andalusian polymath, philosopher, and writer.
