A new novel by the award-winning Saudi author, Maqbul al-Alawi, spins a fictional tale of the fate of the painting "Poppy Flowers" by Van Gogh that was actually stolen from a Cairo museum in 2010 and has yet to be found. In the novel, Hamid buys a cheap painting from a scrap market in Mecca, and then his friend Faisal says it looks just like the stolen poppy painting by that Dutch painter Van Gogh . . .
