Ibn al-Nafis was an Arab polymath who made significant contributions to the early knowledge of pulmonary circulation. During his 80 yeras of life, he witnessed the Crusades, fierce clashes between warring tribes, the Mongol invasion of Baghdad, and more. Despite all this turmoil, Ibn al-Nafis continued to write about medicine. This novel imagines what he would dictate to a scribe 40-years his junior who was writing about the polymath's life.
