Muhammad Sulayman alFakki Shadhili is a Sudanese novelist and poet who has produced works in Arabic, English, and French. He has received several awards including the Sudan Ministry of Youth Story Prize, the University of Khartoum Story Prize, as well as the Tayeb Salih International Prize for Creative Writing. This novel was hailed by world literary critics for its unique narrative style that weaves Sudanese/Arabic folklore with contemporary writing. Written in the style of Arabian Nights, the novel combines illustrations and poetry with classic tales from Sudanese heritage all with contemporary style.
