A satirical work of classical Arabic poetry written around 1033 CE by Al-Ma'arri. It is believed to have had an influence on, or even inspired, Dante's Divine Comedy. Al-Ma'arri was an Arab philosopher, poet and writer, who, despite his controversial irreligious worldview, is regarded as one of the greatest classical Arab poets.
