This novel takes place in a future dystopia where information, technology, and the Internet are banned. The government works constantly to make its citizens happy, by ridding them of excess feelings, desires, dreams, and fantasies. The new State believes imagination is the root of all evil. The protagonist is a book censor who wakes up one morning to find himself transformed into a reader, an amateur in the trap of meaning, entangled in questions of existence, and irredeemably hungry for forbidden novels.
