The history of Yemen under the rule of the country's second to last king, Ahmad bin Yahya Hamidaddin. This conservative ruler, who survived many assassination attempts, was known to be ruthless and inconsistent. He died in his sleep in 1962 and his oldest son was proclaimed the new king -- rule that lasted for a week before he was deposed by a coup.
