This was promptly followed by an assassination attempt and so he fled Iraq finally ending up in Norway. Known for his two collections of satirical short stories, this is his first novel. It is the story of an Iraqi postman working in Oslo who writes satirical short stories. When he returns to Baghdad, he is kidnapped by an armed militia.
