The wildly popular Iranian novel has sold millions of copies, and when it was banned by the Islamic Republic in 1979, the novel, along with its counterpart television series, continued to thrive underground. The tension between reality and imagination comes to a head when a pathetic little man, because of his real-life failures, turns himself in a Napoleon in his fantasies and is convinced of a British plot to destroy him. His family tries to deal with this lapse in reality with comic results.
