Sakin is a Sudanese fiction writer with roots in Darfur. His literary works have been banned in Sudan and he now lives in exile in Austria. In this novel, a poor man lives with his wife and children in a small village where they struggle to live raising chickens and selling the eggs. One day the man discovers a differeng kind of egg -- an egg of gold that takes him from abject poverty to outrageous wealth. This change in social status brings another form of poverty.
