Historical novel by award-winning author, screenwriter and filmmaker, M.I. Quandour. This is the story of Abdul Rahman I, a member of the Umayyad ruling family of Syria who founded the Umayyad dynasty in Spain in the 8th century. Rahman defeated the governor of Al-Andalus and made Cordoba his capital. Despite numerous rebellions by Muslim Spaniards, Berbers, and various Arab clans, as well as the armies of Charlemagne and the Abbasid Caliph, Abd al-Rahman's dynasty remained firmly in power.
