The author was a prominent Iraqi novelist and writer and one of only a few that was able to openly criticize the Iraqi government without repercussions. He was awarded the Owais Prize for Arabi Language Novels in 2000. This is a lyrical novel of human existence written with a degree tendernness that is only found in Arabic poetry.
